Appointment of Commissioners

Each Member Tribe/First Nation selects one of its own Tribal citizens to serve as its Commissioner, who represents the Tribe/First Nation in Commission matters. A Tribe/First Nation may also choose an Alternate Commissioner to step in and perform those duties when the Commissioner is unavailable. To make this authority official, each Member Tribe/First Nation provides a resolution confirming that its Commissioner and Alternate Commissioner are authorized to vote and act on its behalf. The specific way Commissioners and Alternate Commissioners are chosen, how long they serve, and how they may be removed or replaced is determined entirely by each Member Tribe/First Nation according to its own laws and processes.
